New Wing @ the Institute of Art Chicago

I was able to see the new wing designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Renzo Piano. The building was great and full of so much natural light. In the West Wing Pavilion about 20 very large recent Cy Twombly painting were installed . You could actually still smell the paint on most of them. Additionally there was a solid collection of Gerhard Richter in the contemporary painting area, and some interesting works by Kerry James Marshall, Charles Ray, and even a very annoying Bruce Nauman video installation. I also do need to say the contemporary photography section was disappointing, even the Jeff Wall that they had was forgettable. The Cy Twombly painting are on view from May 16–September 13, 2009.The Modern Wing
